Global search is a feature in the full Salesforce website (whether Lightning Experience or Salesforce Classic), using which you can search all object types for the string you just entered. This comes in handy if you are in a hurry or you just remember some string and you wanted to search for all possible matching objects. It also saves you time because you don’t need to remember what you are looking for and click on that object tab first to run the search.

We have gotten a few customer requests that they would like to see this feature in Pulsar. Until now, you could only search from within object list views. For example, you could click on the Accounts or Contacts tab on the home page and run a search within the resulting list view. It would only display matching objects of the type you have selected. With the new Pulsar release on all three platforms (iOS, Android and Windows), you can enable global search and it pretty much works the way it does on the Salesforce web UI.

Here is how it works. First you enable the following Pulsar Setting in your organization (Note: You need to be a Pulsar Premium customer to set this up) and upon next sync, your users will see a search bar on the home page.

PulsarSetting Name: Enable Global Search
Key: pulsar.home.enableGlobalSearch
Value: TRUE

On Pulsar home page, you see the search bar on the top

Searching for ‘Test’ shows results from all matching objects

Clicking on a record will take you to that record detail page

That is it! It is as easy as it looks. Configure it now and enhance the search experience for your users. Let us know if you have any questions on how to set it up.
