Now Available: Pulsar 17.0

Pulsar Release 17 is now available. This update introduces new ways to view assets, improved reporting, expanded support for service appointment retrieval, and essential upgrades to localization and usability. It also adds system-wide dark mode support. For a complete list of updates for this release, read the Pulsar 17.0 release notes.

Critical Notes

Salesforce Field Service users must install the latest Pulsar FSL file to maintain compatibility.

Pulsar 17.0 Highlights

View Asset Hierarchy in a Tree Structure

Pulsar now supports viewing asset hierarchy in a tree-like layout. Mobile teams can see parent and child assets, understand relationships, and identify parts onsite without extra steps. This helps teams move faster and make clearer decisions during service work.

You can read more about Salesforce’s asset hierarchy here.

Edge PDF Printing Support for Windows

Pulsar now uses the Edge PDF Printer for PDF generation on Windows devices. It replaces the previous ironPDF module. This update provides more consistent PDF output for Windows users.

Service Report Improvements

Service Reports now display text more reliably. The release includes changes to reduce text cropping and updates the address fields to use Salesforce’s localized address and name formats. These updates help teams produce clearer, more accurate documentation.

Expanded Service Appointment Retrieval

Pulsar can now retrieve service appointments linked to more parent objects. In addition to Work Orders (WO) and Work Order Line Items (WOLI), Pulsar now supports appointments connected to:

  • Account
  • Opportunity
  • Case

This gives users a broader view of upcoming work directly from the homepage or dashboard.

ICU-Compatible Data Formatting

All data formatting in Pulsar now uses ICU (International Components for Unicode) standards. This supports localized text, placeholders, gender and plural grammar rules, and date and time formatting. The change improves how Pulsar adapts to different regions and languages.

Luminix has performed extensive internal testing, but customers should confirm that date, time, and currency formats appear correctly in their own environments.

Dark Mode Support

Pulsar now honors the device’s dark mode settings. Users can work in the same visual mode as the rest of their device, reducing eye strain during long shifts.

Admins can choose to override this behavior in Pulsar Settings if needed.

Summary

Pulsar 17.0 is available today. These updates give teams greater clarity, more control, and a smoother field experience. Customers can update now to take advantage of the new features. Behind the scenes, some code cleanup was performed, but users won’t notice any change in functionality or interface behavior. As always, SFS users should update to the new Pulsar FSL file.
