Pulsar Release 18: Improved PDF Generation, Stronger Security, and Platform Stability

Pulsar Release 18 improves performance, security controls, and document generation. The update also improves navigation between Pulsar and other apps and brings more consistent behavior across platforms.

These changes help teams access Salesforce data and documents with fewer interruptions.

Critical Notes

Salesforce Field Service users must install the latest Pulsar FSL file to maintain compatibility.

What’s New in Pulsar Release 18?

Pulsar Release 18 includes many updates, including:

  • PDF generation on Windows
  • Platform performance improvements
  • Login and document retrieval reliability
  • Expanded security controls
  • External and deep link navigation
  • Consistent behavior across platforms

Each change focuses on daily workflows such as document generation, authentication, and data access.

For a complete list of updates for this release, read the Pulsar 18.0 release notes.

PDF Generation on Windows Now Uses Microsoft Edge Rendering

Pulsar now uses the Microsoft Edge rendering engine for PDF generation on Windows.

Earlier versions used IronPDF. Some documents required additional formatting before generating the final PDF. The Edge rendering engine processes modern HTML and CSS more accurately. This produces cleaner document layouts and fewer formatting issues.

What are the Benefits of the Edge Rendering Engine?

  • Better support for modern web standards
  • More accurate document formatting
  • Fewer layout corrections before PDF generation

Teams that generate quotes, reports, or forms from Salesforce will notice more consistent output.

Platform Performance Improvements in Pulsar

Release 18 introduces core optimizations that improve platform performance.

These changes support more consistent performance across operating systems and devices.

Organizations that rely on Pulsar to access Salesforce data offline or to retrieve documents should experience fewer interruptions in their daily work.

Reliable Login and Document Retrieval

We have improved two critical workflows. The login process now runs more consistently across environments. This reduces authentication failures and login delays. Document retrieval has also been improved. Users can access Salesforce files and records more reliably, even when retrieving multiple documents or large files.

These updates support faster access to business data stored in Salesforce.

Stronger Security Controls for Administrators

Release 18 expands security and administrative controls.

Updates include:

  • Stronger transport protections for data transmission
  • Expanded object-level access controls
  • A new administrative setting to hide advanced database tools and Salesforce query tools

Administrators can now restrict access to advanced tools when necessary. This helps organizations align Pulsar with internal security policies and user roles.

Improved External and Deep Link Navigation

Pulsar now handles external and deep links more effectively.

Users can move between Pulsar and other applications without losing context. Links to specific Salesforce records open more reliably and return users to the correct location.

This supports workflows that rely on links from emails, CRM notifications, or other enterprise systems.

More Consistent Behavior Across Platforms

Release 18 improves consistency across supported platforms.

Users will notice fewer differences between devices and operating systems. Teams can work the same way whether they use Pulsar on Windows or mobile platforms.

Consistency reduces training time and helps organizations support larger user groups.

Pulsar Release 18 Summary

Pulsar Release 18 is available now. These updates help teams access Salesforce data and documents more reliably while giving administrators greater control over security and configuration. Teams can work efficiently online or offline with fewer interruptions. Behind the scenes, some code cleanup was performed, but users won’t notice any change in functionality or interface behavior. As always, SFS users should update to the new Pulsar FSL file.
